I need help, I have feelings for my best friend, what should I do?

My best friend of 20 years is a guy and we have always been really close, through out relationships we've supported each other and enjoyed each others company.

Now we are both single, I have developed feelings for him and I don't know what to do. I live around 100 miles away these days but still see him often, I have a trip planned next month. He is very shy with his feelings, until he feels secure in what he has to say, so I know he would struggle to discuss emotions without a couple of drinks. When we meet up he is flirty, teasing and very touchy if he has been drinking. He will stand or sit so close to me I can feel his body heat... Eye contact is always intense too (he never looks away) whenever we speak even if the conversation isn't just us. He also has the habit of texting me if we are around a table with friends, not speaking about them but just asking if I am ok and stuff like that. We haven't been physical but recently, after he'd been out, we had a naughty video call which isn't something we've ever done before.

Usually, I have no issues with expressing myself to guys I like but this is a really tough situation and I am finding myself becoming quite sad if I think of him with someone else. How can I tell if he likes me in that way too? I don't want to make him feel awkward and lose him. What should I do?
