If a guy ignores you but does other things to try and get your attention while ignoring your messages what is the purpose?

May I ask what "other things! does this guy do to try and get your attention? (I. e. Are they toxic, nice, good or bad?) If they're designed to hurt you mentally/emotionally then please stay away from this guy. Trust me getting involved with someone like this will do you more harm than good.

One thing that you need to establish, do you know for sure he is definitely ignoring your messages? Sometimes life can be hectic/unpredictable. From the information you've put in this question perhaps he is purposely ignoring you. But you need to know for if this is the case. He may be busy, dealing with stuff to do with family, himself, health etc. These are all things that take up time, as well as drain a person emotionally, physically and mentally.

Another question I will pose to you, why obsess over this guy? I'm going to go out on a whim and agree that he is perhaps ignoring you. It sounds like he may be playing with your emotions/feelings from the information in the title (I've known guys and girls like this), so why continue to message him? You're just hurting yourself and setting yourself up for a fall. Leave him one message and if he gets back to you, great. If he doesn't then it's not the end of the world. Just cut him out of your life.

Another thing to ask yourself, how is your relationship with this guy in person? Some people I've known and met are great, caring and attentive face to face, but don't like texting. It's perhaps counterproductive having a phone/social media and not wanting to interact, but some people are like that and we have to respect it.

I don't know without more information what this guys "purpose" is by "ignoring" your messages, but maybe don't message him anymore if it's making you feel bad or worthless. Let him come back to you. You've sent him messages, now it's his turn to reply to them. As said before, if he comes back to you then that's good. If he never does, then cut your loses and don't worry about it. You're worth more than how one person treats you.

I've messaged him once and he's unread it 3 days later. Still unread. Basically he never ever posts stuff but the day after I messaged him he posted selfies etc. And I never viewed them (there is a feature on there that shows who viewed it to him)

I was sort of leading him on before and I think he just got fed up, but why post pictures does he want me to message him again?

I'd just leave it, nothing good ever comes out of these kind of 'game' like relationships with people.
