What does it mean when a guy ignores your message?

I sent this guy a message on Facebook asking him if he wants to hang out sometime. He's read it but hasn't replied. He knows I like him, and he acts as if he likes me back. We're both kinda shy. What does it mean? I'm confused...

Interesting that women think a guy would respond ...I wish women knew how uber shy guys are.

So, you are both shy and you think he likes you back. For now we'll assume he is.

If this is your first ever message to him on Facebook and if you haven't talked to him in person ever; then she is totally baffled by it and very, very shy - and thus doesn't know what to do.

And when shy guys don't know what to do, they do nothing.

I'm guessing you only said "Hey, we should hangout sometime?" or something like that? If he is shy then a detailed message would be better, like "We should see the movie "X" at the "Y" cinema on Friday at 8pm. Let's meet in front of that cinema at 7:45 pm", then you are kinda forcing him to respond, and he's more likely to respond.

If he is shy then him not responding could actually be a good sign - that he's interested in you and doesn't want to mess it up by writing something that you could interpret as stupid; and I'm guessing you two haven't talked in person and that the Facebook message is the first message online - but then again, if I'm wrong then it's probably best to forget about my answer :)

The thing with us very shy guys is that we really, really, really don't want to be the ones to initate conversation or any sort of interaction. Even though you might suggest the movie "X" at a certain time through Facebook, it's even better to do it face to face. And if he's very shy (like me) then I'm afraid you are the one that's going to have to initiate conversation

In descending order of probability:

1. Too shy, missed the opportunity to reply and assumes it is too late and that you've moved on.

2. Decided to mull over it for a few days, but forgot to reply.

3. Too busy at that point of time, forgot to reply.

3. Isn't interested.

Since you can tell on FB that someone read your message, and he hasn't replied, I would say that for some reason he simply doesn't want to and perhaps doesn't want to hurt your feelings by saying outright "no".

However, if you think it's possible that somehow he missed it, try again. If he ignores it a second time, then you have your answer.

Are you sure he just hasn't seen it because he was/is doing hw? Sometimes (so I've heard) they're just busy too so they don't have time to check all their messages at all times. Don't worry, just relax, if he likes you he will respond eventually.

It probably means that he's not interested. Of course, if he suffers from social anxiety, there's also a definite possibility that he wants to hang out, but can't bring himself to make it happen. It's not unusual for severely shy guys to intentionally ignore women they like simply because they are too scared to get close to them. Whatever you do, don't pressure him.
