Why did he freak out when I messaged him?

I literally added this guy on social media, he accepted the request. So he knew who I was (we were both laid off from the same company). Anyway, I inbox him one time for the first time. All I was asking was how he was and he answered with "Alright, just on the application grind" and I responded back but a few hours later I find out he just unfriended me. I am baffled as I didn't really do anything wrong.

Going back in time, when we had to talk in person he would seem nervous all the time, even though he was like upper management. Like he would mess with his socks and rub his hands together constantly and laugh nervously. He even greeted me a couple times but other times he would look down when he saw me. I'm so confused. I never even flirted with him. What's up with that?

Maybe he didn’t realize who you were until you sent the message, and I only suggest that because I’ve done it several times lol. You can’t zoom in to a picture and if the profile is private then sometimes I don’t know. Now if your profile is public so he could clearly see who you were, he could’ve added you and thought better of it later. Sometimes people decide not to remain in contact with ex-coworkers, I’ve been in that place too. Regardless, I wouldn’t call it a freak out, just a change of heart.

I get it, I mean with my last job I was there a few years and gained a few friends we were all cool, but there were like two of them that just suddenly deleted me all of a sudden when I thought we were friends. I guess you just never really know how someone is feeling outside of work. Kinda like when you graduate high school, and go separate ways with people you thought you’d be friends with forever. Anyway, sorry for the rant lol just wanted to clarify.

Sometimes I get laser-focused and block certain people. You know, the ones who don't know to stop messaging after one message, coz I sort of have work life on my phone as well.

I don't like numerous messages at one time either. It was only one message and he responded normally but it was what happened afterwards that was strange.

Ok, well, maybe he thought, "Hey it's that girl from work, maybe she has good news about the company." Then he realized he was still laid off, and thought "Oh well, I never liked her anyway."

Lol I just left it alone. It was just really... strange. I've never has that happen to me before.
