Immediately when we saw each other for the first time he looked at me from a distance and looked away (to the ground) when I looked and looked again when I looked away and so on. Even then he caught my eye. This went on for about the whole evening. When I laughed, he almost couldn't look away and seemed hypnotized. Eyes wide open, mouth slightly open. We then also had eye contact for a little longer. But when I looked again, he looked away again. When I was near him or when he noticed that I wanted to go to him, he smiled at me, but immediately snapped his head away after a few seconds in which I returned the look. And when we shook hands it was pretty close to his body (and then mine, logically) and we looked deep into each other's eyes as our hands were sort of inside each other. After that, we were both kind of off. We hugged and it was kind of very slow and careful. He seemed very nervous around me, couldn't hold eye contact anymore and made his body very small. It was almost uncomfortable... he could barely say anything either, just short tempered. And I was also just irritated and didn't know what to say. Then he had also rather turned his body away, but his head to me, although he had always openly turned his body to me at a distance...
Is that romantically speaking something like "love at first sight"? We had hardly spoken... but all this non-verbal stuff is also communication. It was somehow very cute and now I can't get him out of my head anymore...

There's no way of knowing what it could be without having talked to him all night. It sounds awkward more than anything. Nonverbal cues are a thing yeah but they're not this deep. If you felt some sort of spark tho then that's great

I think it is deep. More than superficial talking. Maybe sometime two people can not talk, because of the surrounding. Because they do not want to appear too obvious

No, it was a party. I wrote that we have seen each other for the first time. So, not a date. It seems to me more like strong attraction and shy guy behavior.

Yes, connection. Big deep, I don't know. But do you know the feeling, when you like someone and you can not talk, because you are nervous around them? Because you think to much about it. I think that actually happens when you have "that" connection. Then you understand each other in silence.
I think it's sad, when someone doesn't have this magical thinking or basically the hope and wish that something like "love at first sight" excist. I'm always happy, when I read storys about it.

Actually, when I read over it, it reads that way yes. I just don't understand why others see it as awkward or "cues aren't that important, you have to talk". I understand the comments, but I find such signs much more magical and intense than words could ever be.
