Why do some guys that date you watch your insta stories pretty quick but they do not reply or open your messages directly?

It was happening with my ex a lot but now I started dating a guy and it is happening again. I asked him 2 hours ago how his day was, he saw my insta story after that but hasn't opened my message yet. When my ex was doing it I was complaining and he was saying that he couldn't reply that moment and that to check an insta story is way quicker and it doesn't need a lot of time or thinking than replying to a message. I do believe that also the current guy will answer since we had great time in our dates and he told me yesterday to schedule our next date. But why are they doing it? I mean from my perspective that means that they are not that interested. If someone likes you he will reply the same time that he watches also his stories list. Am I wrong?

Because they cba to take the time to reply right now, but he watches insta stories because it is quick. I don't usually take watching instagram stories as a sign of interest, especially if they follow you anyway. It may be another story if they don't follow you yet, as they are actively checking out your page.

Maybe he has time to take the glance at your story but he doesn't have the time to have a conversation
