What is the intention behind him making sexual comments about you?

If a guy you know as a friend (not a close one) makes sexual comments about you, what is the intention? Is it to be provocative, to test boundaries or what does he gain from that?

He could be unhappy with her and ready to break up. Maybe their relationship is not exclusive. Maybe he is willing to cheat on her. Maybe he thinks she is preparing to break up with him. Maybe he is simply trying to form a bacup plan so he is prepared when it does happen.

It seems by the answers that it might not be as innocent as i have interpreted it to be and that you think that there is something that goes beyond him just being inappropriate or provocative because he thinks its fun or whatever. I hope you are wrong..
