The whole premise is pretty much faulty.

If a rope can safely hold 10 guys, yet break with the weight of only 1 added woman, in most likelihood, it could have held them all. Assuming 180# for the guys and 140# for the woman, that would have been less than 8% reduction in weight, typically less than the margin or "fudge factor" in the strength rating of a rope.

It's kind of odd when you look at the bell curve. For men, there are a greater number of geniuses and a greater number of idiots with less in between. Where with women there are less geniuses and less idiots, and more in between. It's an odd balance. Based on the above one could argue that on average women tend to be smarter.
