I got this new "friend" who keeps complementing me in an excessive way, about how "smart, brilliant and hardworking" I am. Could this mean anything?

Don't get me wrong, i find it flattering when someone complements my brains, personality or my work ethic but most of the guys I knew would never really complement me this confidently, i feel humbled, truly..
