In your age group, guys will generally say just about anything just to get into your pants. That is unfortunately how it works because few have the opportunity to be selective with their conquests.

Most will give you compliments, orbit around you, make you want to feel special and with a little homework on their part, make you believe that you stand out of the crowd.

In 90% of the cases, this is just a trick to get at you and once they have achieved to put you there where they want, you fall into their traps just like a bug attracted by bright light.

Once they are finished with you, usually within a few days or weeks and once you have lost the initial attraction, you will find yourself wishing you were clever enough not to fall for those empty words.

Most (not all) guys in that age group will play games. Guaranteed.

That's bullshit in my opinion. The younger the guy, the greater the chance his innocence is intact. I think girls bring heartbreak on themselves by going for older guys, who were themselves overlooked when they were younger and are therefore bitter and cynical and looking to catch up by getting as much pussy as possible.

Can't speak for other guys, but I was a virgin at 18, and had a massive crush on a specific girl, but I never told her because I didn't feel worthy so I rationalized it to myself like "I can still protect her and make sure no one hurts her" which is obviously ridiculous, but if sex was a motive, it was totally subconscious. I thought this woman was the most important thing in the world and felt like dying for her sake would be totally meaningful. Guess I was a little weird.
