Guy freinds change in behaviour?

Gotta a guy freind, we hang out heaps and stay up all night talking. We pay for ourselveswhen we go out... I did develop feeling for him but even though he says he loves me it's never progress. He has a silly idea about not being worthy of love. Soo I decided to broaden my options. I mentioned to him I had been taliking to another guy. He suddenly wants to do stuff for me, painting my front fence, fixing stuff etc and insisted on paying for our ne t outing.. I'm abot baffled on this change in behaviour.

ummm something is not right there. I would need more but he sounds like a white knight. But why lie to him, if you like him say it. don't expect guys to make the 1st move but don't lead him with mixed signals.

I have never lied to him and earlier on indicated I was Interested. But he said he wasn't in the right head space and stayed friends. I waited for ages with mixed signals from him and never ending excuses and contradicting his words with lack of action. ... So naturally decided to move on.
