Did I ruin my chances with him?

There’s guy at work I am interested in. I’ve told him that he was cute so assume that he knows I am interested. I added him on snapchat and asked him if he wanted to hang out sometime but he left me on delivered for hours but then he answered and said that he was cool with that. I’ve tried to strike up a convo on social media before but my messages ended up on delivered for days so I stopped. It made things awkward and then he slowly started to avoid me which made me think that he doesn’t feel the same. So now he just keep staring at me or sneak glances when I’m not looking (I’m guilty there too lol) but we don’t speak to eachother anymore. No matter how much I try I cannot seem to understand him? I mean how hard can it be to just say that you are not interested or that you have a girlfriend etc. His behaviour is really bugging me but I still want to know if I did something wrong maybe? He’s quite shy at work and doesn’t talk to many but when he’s approached he talks a lot.
