Not very often but more than likely it's from guys. And if he receives a compliment, he can remember it for the rest of his life. If a girl compliments me, I guess I wouldn't think she is more attractive but I can respect that she was willing to do something that many girls will never do.

2. from women, I don't count compliments from guys the same way. it's usually work skill related.
3. they are not important to me if I'm not reciprocating any feelings or if the compliment isn't coming from a general deep love interest. A hug i would remember for a long time, cause i don't get those often.
