Guys: How often do girls compliment you?

I;ve just starting casually chatting to this one guy and he was complimenting me than the thought struck me that I never really complimented him. I give signs I am interested but never told up told him compliments. I was always used to guys complimenting me.

He is growing his hair out (calls it his pro flow Lol) anyways after a few days of not texting I randomly texted him "I'm digging the flow. Looks good ;)" and he now he way more ...into me? or giving me more attention I guess since started complimenting him more.

Yeah, guys usually don't pick up on the subtle hints. I can only speak for myself here. If I see a girl making subtle hints that she's interested in me, I act like it never happened.

Why? Even if she IS interested in me, there is no limit to the drama that could ensue of she WASN'T interested in me, and I pursued her anyway. Is that that, like, the #1 complaint women have about men? Them pursuing a girl who isn't interested in them?

Guys really don't get compliments all that often. The perception and frustrations women have, from what I've seen, is that complimenting a man is either:

1. Inflating an ego they assume is already sky high. Or

2. If they give a man a compliment, he will follow them around like a lost puppy.

What is often forgotten is the reason for these.

1. Guys don't get many compliments. So we have little perception of others' image of us. If we are confident, it's either something we create for ourselves, or it's something we fake because a self-conscious guy is basically the least desirable thing you can be. Just ask the audience about Ted Mosby.

2. We're supposed to pick up on your subtle hints, are we not? If a subtle wink is supposed to make us come over, what about a direct compliment? We can't pick up on the subtle and assume you're totally into us, then just completely ignore the not-so-subtle.

Plus, again, we don't get many compliments. You're probably giving him more attention than he gets from any other woman.

Personally, I get compliments now and again, and it's something I really appreciate. I used to get a lot more when I was out and about, but it's becoming crunch time for my degree, and I don't live on campus anymore.

So yeah, It's really nice of you to pay him, or any guy, a compliment. Just make sure that if you're not interested in them, you tell them that as well.

Honestly, compliments from girls are insanely rare. It's a huge reason I stop talking to girls. I don't argue about it but if I notice a girl doesn't really compliment and that she only replies to me if I text her then I assume she just takes attention and has nothing to give. It makes me question if she's narcissistic too.

Sometimes. I don't take girls' compliments seriously though. I'm never successful with girls, yet guys I know who never get complimented have lots of success with girls.

If someone told you something nice about yourself why wouldn't you take them seriously? Is it because you don't have :success" with them?

Of course, if some girl says I'm a good guy and also handsome, but then she doesn't want to date me, I'm not going to take her compliment seriosuly. I don't even fish for compliments. I'd rather not have the compliments really.

I don't generally get complimented by women unless it's work-related. I did have a girlfriend who complimented me all the time, and it drove me crazy:/
