Guy won't delete her number?

He is my friend. He went on a date with a girl , hoping to get some bedroom action quick but the girl didn't put out so he started leaving her on read and being passive aggressive towards her. This continued for almost a year where he seemed to develop some kind of obsession with her as he would keep checking her out, staring at her etc.

However, when the girl texted him to meet up, he didn't reply to her and finally she texted him saying she will no longer bother him as she feels he doesn't want to talk. Within half an hour, the guy quickly replied saying sorry, he was at a friends birthday (he lied) and how didn't check his phone. He apologised again saying he's sorry he didn't get back to her and is willing to meet on Monday.

On Monday however, he intentionally called her to the common room where he was sitting with a group of people and when she came to meet him, he acted shocked, as if he had no idea she was going to come. The girl got really angry and they had an argument where she told him everything he's done till now and kept trying to say he only saw her as a "friend" and lying about how he never stared at her, never wanted a relationship and she replied back to everything he's done which made him silent. He finally apologised for making her feel unwelcome in front of the people earlier too.

However, when she asked him that if he has no interest or feelings for her and they are not friends or acquaintances, she will leave from his life and never contact him again, he remained silent or said ok ok it's your decision to part ways. But when he had to answer he would either be silent or said he will talk when he wants to and won't he doesn't want to. He was getting very stressed and smoked 6 cigarettes at once during this talk.

He did say he was pissed and he was mad at her but he did not delete her and is still keeping her. What is the point of this?

Your friend is a baby, the girl should get the fuck away and you should try to use it as a wake up call to him. What do you expect? You treat people like shit long enough and even if they like you they'll go away. He lost her whenever he decided to play this stupid game. I get it, he was afraid of getting hurt and of their feelings not corresponding. But his attitude made it so that doesn't even matter, if you behave like that you have 0 chance, if you act rationally you always have a shot.
I'm not saying that seduction isn't a fun game to play and that u can't make the other person work for it here and there. But there's a balance and when you don't know it, you ruin the relationship
