I have always had a crush on this man ever since I met him. It really surprised me as he is 20 years older than me and I thought it would just pass but it’s been 4 years now and I’ve totally fallen in love with this man.
We have worked together for 4 years.
For 2 of those years he was my manager then I got a new job working in the same department as him and he is no longer my manager but still a senior manager.
Since I got my new job 2 years ago we became a lot closer. We actually have a lot in common which really surprised me and we get on so well and we just click.
He began being very flirty with me last year and this made me very confused as I was never sure if he was just being nice or if there was more to it. Then he started to message me a lot outside of work, followed me on social media and then we became even closer.
He would always give me compliments, help me a lot, tell me I was good looking, sexy or nice, be very handsy with me, told me he liked my boobs, liked my outfits and then I thought maybe he’s not just being nice and I felt even more confused.
This went on for months until one day he told me he got back together with his ex who cheated on him. I was sad and felt stupid for thinking he actually liked me.
Then a few months ago at a work night out he was drunk and wouldn’t leave me alone. I was also very drunk and by the end of the night we were sitting in the corner with our arms around each other. Our coworkers noticed and made some comments to us. Nothing happened - we were just talking / touching.
Then gradually he became more distant with me, which I don’t blame him for. I think it was a good thing to take a step back and realise that people can see how flirty we were with each other and now that he’s back with his ex I need to respect that.
It’s been months and it’s so ridiculous that I still get butterflies every morning when I see him. I’m driving myself mad. How can I get over these feelings for him without getting a new job?
