I would attribute it to the idea but that doesn't mean the idea isn't true enough. We simplify our nostalgia, like for a childhood film. But it doesn't mean the childhood film can't make you so happy so many years later.

I should also point out as a caveat that we can have a childhood film that makes us so nostalgic, for example, then rewatch it and find it holds none of the original appeals anymore! So it's hit or miss, I think, but it's going to the realm of "ideas" I think when they're long in the past.
