What does it mean when my coworker avoids eye contact when saying hello to me?

Throughout our shift I catch him stealing glances at me…we will make eye contact then, but hardly ever when he says hi to me… when we are having a conversation he’s seeming shy but with others he’s outgoing. any guesses why this happens?

Stealing glances and shyness ONLY with/at you are signs he may like you. Are there any other signs you've noticed?

Not really outside of shyness only with me and catching him staring at me…I’m also new at the job I’ve been here for almost two weeks.

Today I caught him stealing glances again. This time after our shift we talked in the office for about 35 minutes. He was telling me about his personal life, career goals, etc. he showed me pictures in his phone of a place he visited on his days off… he then told a story and vaguely mentioned “his wife” #FACEPALM ….. so now I’m thinking he might be crushing but is keeping it at staring so that he doesn’t violate his marriage. I don't know. Either way we are always locking eyes but he hasn’t acted on it any further. Guess I’ll take the L. 😭

Nooooo 😭 maybe he wants you to be his “work wife” you know. like that intimacy at work only. or maybe his marriage is on the fritz and he’s planning to end it. was the story a positive one with the wife?

It was weird he was talking about his trip to California and at first he was like “I’m going to California” and then he slipped up and mention his wife. it was strange because he made it seem like he was going alone at first til he accidentally said “my wife” *cries*

i hate that right? i empathize so much. they bury the gut punch in the middle when you least expect it. you know you could always throw a line out there. i’m not sure how confident you are, but you could just casually say “hey you know, i know you’re married, but i like how i feel around you, so if you ever find yourself single again, you know, let me know”.

Huh 🤨 interesting about the wedding ring. my dad doesn’t wear one either because it hurts his finger so maybe it’s like 50/50 depends on the guy

Hmmm it is interesting! I honestly don’t think I will say anything to him about it because Im struggling to understand if his mannerisms even means that he likes me?

However, I do believe he can tell I like him from us stealing glances at each other. I can always feel him looking at me when I’m not even facing or talking to him. But I don't know. It sucks because I have a pretty big crush on him.

I guess as I've gotten into my 20s, I feel like I have nothing to lose.. I guess I just feel like it's worse to live with the doubt of 'does he like me?' every day when it could be resolved in a matter of two sentences. I totally understand if you don't think it's the right moment. Obviously workplace romances always have more stakes than if the person weren't working where you do.
