Just be open and honest. Guys in general are very bad an intuitive ideas and body language. I for one cannot read your mind.

Being upfront about your intentions can really bring a fruitful outcome. If you aren't clear, then you will be continually pursued until you eventually have to be open and tell him. So either way you'll have to, might as well do it early to be respectful and save both of you any troubles.
