If a guy says he would prefer a woman without a kid but still likes me should I just move on?

Honestly, that's a tough one. Cause until your kid moves out it's very unlikely that you could find a guy that wouldn't prefer a woman without a kid. The issue is that he said it out loud. Now it could be that he is just tone deaf/ social inept, but I would take some time and think through his past behaviour to see if there are any red flags you can find. I would also, if possible, try to find out how he treats your kid when you're not around.

Do you still have contact with the ex? (The kid's father?)

Is there drama?

Are you friends with the kid's father and hang out together?

Do you want more kids in the future?

Will you be okay with the guy parenting your kid when in HIS house?

Is there someone to take care of the kid for a day or two often so you would get time together alone early in the relationship?

All of those could make a difference on whether you would be successful with him or not.

And it is still possible for him to leave if he finds someone he likes that doesn't already have a kid.

Usually it is best for single parents to look for other single parents for a new relationship because they are in the same situation. I personally wouldn't want someone that already had a kid from someone else. It would be impossible to live a happy family life like I envisioned if someone else's kid was there. Not everybody feels that way though, but the majority of quality men do.

It all depends. Question: did you initiate the relationship or did he? And did he know you had a kid at the time, or did he find out later?
