He blocked me off from Instagram and Snapchat but didn't block me from WhatsApp, he still checks my status on WhatsApp. What does this mean?

Very sorry for your situation and whatever confusion you're having about this. So I see tons of people on Quora asking the same types things who are going through similar situations to yours. Their girlfriend/boyfriend - or now ex - blocked them on all platforms except for one, or blocked them on everything but watches them with a fake account, etc.

My answer to you would be that him doing this does not necessarily mean anything positive. It doesn't necessarily mean he really still cares or wants to get back with you. Blockers and ghosters watch their victims all the time, sometimes even for years according to one article I read once, but they have no interest in ever seeing or talking to you again.

The big thing to ask yourself is: would you want to be in a relationship with a guy who is doing this? Would you really want to reconnect with someone who does things that keep you guessing? Are you actually okay with someone who is doing things that are unclear? I think that’s the most important thing here.

I see it that he keeps the rear door ajar just in case you change your mind. I presume that it is easier to contact someone with this WhatsApp rather than on any social media. He blocked you on the social media because I presume that it impacts more on how the blocking is perceived.

He may have realized that he moved too quickly but by removing you from his social media, he gives you the impression that he fully understood you yet, by keeping a rear door ajar, he hopes that you may change your opinion in the future and then it is so much easier to contact you again.

Is he a friend? An ex boyfriend? Crush? What is he and what is the surrounding circumstances that he blocked you on social media (except WhatsApp)?

So, if I have to guess, he is leaving an avenue open to reach out to you at some point. Perhaps that app shares less about what he is doing, where he is, who he is hanging out with, etc than the other social media apps you mention.

Only he can answer this question, but I wouldn't overthink it too much. He may have even just forgot about that particular app. If you update the question, I will update my opinion accordingly.
