My ex came back suddenly into my life. He told me he is single now and missed me a lot.

I was actually excited to hear from him and we went out several times. During our dates he told me loves me and was very sweet and affectionate. This was kind of confusing because he said he wasn't ready to date. Why would he tell me he loves me? After a couple of weeks he got cold with me. When I asked him what happened he told me we should be friends.

My response was I couldn't be his friend because I have feelings for him.

So we said good bye and that was the end of it.

Why did he come back? What was the point of all this?
