Guys, Can you guys explain football to me or soccer if you are from America?

My guy friends are going out this weekend to watch football and I’m also going. I don’t wanna sit there awkwardly without knowing what’s going on.

It's certainly not a complicated sport to learn, or learn to watch. So you are going with your 'guy friends' and none of them would take the time to explain it to you? Let me guess "I'll feel stupid asking them questions" right? Well, guess what, they won't assume you know all about ⚽ soccer... at all. And if they are friends they should be glad to explain the sport to a beginner. Isn't that what friends do?

Short story:
2 teams with 11 Players each (1 Goal keeper 10 fieldplayers) try to shoot the ball into the opposing players goal.

Besides the goalkeeper, no one is allowed to touch the ball with their hands.

It’s a game where spectators who can’t even kick ball are “more” professional players than the actual players on ground. There is someone called the coach who runs ups and down the pitch, shouting for 90+mins and isn’t the refereeing and gets fired immediately (90% chance) if his team loses.

Each team must use their feet (hence, FOOTball), legs, and head to manipulate the ball and make it go to the goal gate. Only the goalkeeper may use the hands. There should be no violence, or the referee would show the offender the yellow card (warning) or red card (they're out of the game).

It's literally the most boring sport on the planet. More so than golf. People run up and down a field very slowly and games usually end with one or two point final scores. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Don't forget the theatrics of the player who supposedly got hit somehow, then the replay shows he wasn't touched... drives me nuts.

You kick a ball around a field. Every once in a while someone kicks it into the net and they score a point. The goalie is the only one that is allowed to use their hands. For some unknown reason, they keep the clock running for injuries; but the refs stop theirs.
