I don't believe they do. I think it's a cold-hearted suppression of the feelings and emotions for whatever reason they've chosen in whatever specific situation it is. They're making a choice in that moment and whatever the choice is they're allowing it to outweigh the feelings. So they suppress it and move on. I think that's an important distinction. In the end it may not make you feel better but the feelings aren't gone; they have been supplanted.

Real simple. We learn to never get invested in the first place till we've been with a woman foe a VERY LONG time. Because we know how fickle women can be. It's just asking for trouble. It's always best to just pretend and tell her what she wants to hear till you know.

Something about her that turns me off. I saw this one girl I thought I liked at first call a guy who was 4'11 at the time a dwarf among other things.
