I met this guy at church a year ago and a few weeks ago we were talking and he asked for my number. Then he said that me along with my brother and my sister in law should all hang out together. So he would text me on and off and today he brought up that he wants me to meet his girlfriend? He NEVER mentioned her in all the talks we've had. Luckily, I didn't do anything inappropriate but still!! Why would a guy ask for someone's number but is taken?
"Why would a guy ask for someone's number but is taken?" Because he wants to be friends...
I know this is hard to believe, but yes, you can be friends with someone of the opposite sex. Assuming he wasn't flirting or leading you on, he probably met you at church, thought you both shared common views and interests... like FRIENDS, and asked for your number. I have guy friends I've exchanged numbers with- no implications or dating or flirting, just talking, sharing memes, or discussing work stuff if we're coworkers.
As long as he didn't lead you on or imply he was interested in you, I'm sorry to say he wasn't in the wrong. You just -assumed- he was interested in you because he wanted your number.

Provided you met him at a church function, and giving you both the benefit of the doubt that nothing inappropriate happened, it's entirely likely that it was an innocent gesture of friendship and its also likely that he and his partner have a very trusting and honest relationship. She probably has no concerns whatsoever with him taking to another woman in a purely friendly manner.
Because plenty of girls wouldn't care that he has a girlfriend.
