Why doesn’t he want to mention any other girls?

i am friends with this guy and i have a feeling he likes me however, yesterday when we were talking he brought up how he met a girl at a party once, but once he said that he went “oh actually it’s, she’s not important, yea”.

today he asked me if I knew a girl from my class and once I asked “howd you know her?” he said “nah it’s silly, it’s fine we don’t need to talk about it”
I don't know why he’s deflecting because I don’t mind getting to know him and his female friends

Hmmm that’s true, he started mentioning a girl he knew but then stopped talking about it

One time I was literally 10 minutes away from sleeping with this girl I liked, but on the way there, I stupidly mentioned another girl in passing and she told me to forget it.

So... I learned that it's not a good idea to mention other girls to girls you're interested in. He probably did too

Not all women are as understanding as you are. Some get extremely offended when we talk about other girls. Better safe than sorry
