Unless you are very close long-time friends... (the kind who has a relationship with his mother and whatnot) then... he wouldn't.

That is really a very very clear indication that you like someone. So clear, in fact, that few people have ever been in your position.

Usually, you wouldn't even have been invited until it had been openly established that you had romantic interest in each other. It's a weird "first sign" because it's so very clear. It's almost awkward in the "elephant in the room" it creates. So, usually nobody would ever invite a girl... unless that status had been established clearly (because it's a significant commitment to go on a trip with his family. You don't do that shit to "see if you might like a girl." You do it when you KNOW you like her (and she likes you) and you want to spend time together.

So I think you're perfectly right to be confused here. But unless he's been your best friend for 10 years, and sees you almost as a literal sister... there is no reason he would invite you unless he were interested. It makes zero sense.

I highly doubt it , I think its obvious he is extremely interested. I know if I was inviting a lady on a family trip , I certainly wouldn't do it if I were not interested , it may also be a test of sorts - what do " they " think of you and the like , that's also possible.
