Is it weird to take the guy I’m dating out for his birthday?

We’ve been kinda seeing each other for a month and a bit now. We have had sex etc and we speaks everyday and it’s his birthday I’m 5 days but I’m not exactly his girlfriend and we are just going with the flow so would this scare him off? He has asked me out on dates to take me to places but I’m afraid that he will take it as too much? I don’t wanna make him think I’m wanting to be his girlfriend so soon.

I take my guy friends out for their birthdays all the time, it's not inherently date-like or too much. I would say just ask him. I know it can be the most difficult thing to talk to someone about your worries, but the best way to solve this is just to say - "Hey, I'd like to treat you to dinner as a birthday present, one friend to another, would you like that?" or something like that.

What's the worse he can say? "No, that's too much."?

Acknowledge that you aren't sure if he would want to as you aren't a couple but make the offer of a birthday date or whatever it is to him, it doesn't have to be a big deal.
