Is it too early to ask a guy I've gone on a few dates to celebrate my birthday?

I'm seeing a guy for one month and we've gone on three dates. We went on a hike and spent the whole day together on our last date. He said he had a great time with me and we continued texting each other afterwards.

My birthday is coming up in a few days and I texted him saying that I'd like to have dinner with him sometime soon because my birthday is happening soon. I also said that it wouldn't have to be fancy or anything special.

I haven't heard back from him in a day and I wonder if that was too early to ask him given we are not exclusive or anything. I know he is still using dating apps.

That said, if he backs out at this point, I think he is not that into me anyway. Any thoughts?

Not at all. It will definitely give you an indication of where things are. If he doesn't want to, then not asking him would t improve how he feels, but if he says yes it could give you two a jump start to something more significant. Not much to lose, high potential gain.
