Strange gift and I don’t get it?

My husband had a bottle perfume given to him from his guy co worker (this is what he told me when I asked what it was) I thought it was cologne, however after looking it up, we discovered it’s women’s perfume. I asked him why he would do that and he told me he didn’t know and I’d have to ask the co worker. Am I wrong to think that’s freaking weird? I say he’s lying.
