I work with this guy and I would like to know your opinion. Many times when I pass him an object he touches my hands even though he doesn’t have to. he stands really close to me when speaking to me, always laughs at my jokes, always pays attention at what I am saying. There was an occasion where his leg touched mine and it felt like it was on purpose as he didn’t move it. He is always playfully hitting me and asking me to do the same. But recently he turned and said to me that at work we are like family. But he never seems to treat anyone like he treats me? Is he hitting on me or am I going crazy?

EmyyWolf's advice a "shit test" even before you start a relationship and it is not healthy for a relationship. If he is into you, this may slightly poison the future relationship. In my opinion there is a smaller chance that you’ll genuinely laugh about it together later in relationship.

Also, it's not like we have some supernatural access to his thoughts, we can only give opinions and all experts of the world might be wrong.

I know it may seem hard, but you could, you know, just ask him about this? Depending on how you feel about him, you could say either something like "Hey, are you interested in me? Because if you are, I thought we could grab coffee/lunch/have a dinner on Friday" or something like "Hey, are you interested in me? I'm asking because I am not attracted to you and I am trying to stay professional at workplace."

If you choose the latter ("not interested") response, depending on the laws in your area you might want to visit HR and just have them make a note that you told him you're not interested and you hope it can stay professional between you two. So if his behaviour changes towards you in a negative way you can ask the HR to intervene, since you basically told them this was a possibility. If he behaves okay, then it shouldn’t affect him in any way (unless the HR itself is unprofessional and tries to laugh at him or something - but that's well out of your hands).

No that’s sounds boring. And if I ask him personally it can also get weird or go wrong. This is why it’s best to do it in a JOKE manner. Or JOKE fashion to not make it weird.

I can go “No that was a joke from my crazy insane friend”
And usually if he acts all interested there’s the answer. And if he avoids me that’s another answer.

"Boring" solutions are still valid solutions. And, at least here, they require a lot less effort and trying to guess, read minds or horribly mangling a situation beyond any help.

EmyyWolf's solution could just as well be a plot driver in a romantic comedy about people who may or may not like each other but they won't just talk about it because this wouldn't make a funny 1.5h long movie about mishaps.

In my opinion, trying this kind of mind games should have ended in high school. You’re adult, there’s nothing shameful in speaking about one’s preferences or emotions. Asking him straight, while not guaranteed to give you a straight answer (but neither does the roundabout approach involving other people and turning it into a joke), will probably not backfire if the relationship is formed.

a guy told me im like his sister (he sisiterzoned me) and he didn't make it obvious that he liked me but after a while he confessed his feelings but the difference between my case and your case is that the guy I met didn't show obvious flirty character to me and he acted like he really doesn't care and yours did the opposite and then called u his family , so I think yours isn't acting all cool like mine did , so I think he's not interested bc he why would he send obvious signals to u that he likes u but then say ur like family?
