Why would a guy friend go a month or two without calling his female friend?

Usually- because he's seeing a girlfriend or pursuing someone.

And yes, I know you're just a friend, however, if he's dating or trying to date someone, he's probably distracted, or doesn't want the other girl jealous of you for whatever reason. Usually whenever my guy friends go quiet, I know there's usually a girl involved (and I'm right, LOL). And when things calm down, or they break up/things don't work out, he returns.

Now I'm not saying that's always the case. If you're really that concerned about your friend, send him a text saying, "Hey, haven't heard from you in a while; just checking in. You okay?" Hopefully, if he's really your friend, he'll respond when he gets time and let you know how he's doing and where he's been.

There needs to be more added to this for me to answer this properly. I feel like there is much missing. Like does he usually do this? Does he have a girlfriend and maybe she is not fond of you or something? Is he the type to just be flaky? Maybe he might have liked you and decided to back off because he can't be with you?

There's just a lot of factors missing.
