How to show interest?

So I’m talking to a guy I’ve not met in person yet. I’ve missed a couple hints I think.. for example I was talking to him about how I haven’t driven a manual car before and he said “omg we need to get you in a manual it’ll be so much fun” and I said “yeah I’ll have to figure out getting my manual licence eventually” and then the conversation fizzled out. Another time he made an innuendo “nothings too big just make it fit” and I rambled on completely missing what he’d just said. Often times that’s how our conversations go I message him roughly once a week cause I don’t want him to think Im not interested and then our conversation seems to be going well and then he’ll make a comment that I’ll completely miss or we’ll run out of things to say and the conversation fizzles out. He doesn’t text me first anymore he did the first couple times but not anymore. Im worried he thinks I’m not interested and I’m not sure how to interpret his not texting first.

basically just wondering what I can say to show I’m interested and what not to do or say to come on too strong..

If you are talking regulary, and the guy is kinda shy, i dont think he will take small hints (at least i am that slow), so you may want to be a little more flirty or meet up (and if you two talk often, i dont believe he will think you only want sex)

Try expressing an interests in the things that he likes, and try to be as humorous as you can. Flirt with him too.
