Why do men talk less than women?

Okay actually I have a theory on this so hear me out.

So for most men the first love of their life is their mother. So every young man learns that he loves his mother, but his mother is also a strict disciplinarian. So you don't ever talk back to your mother, and you don't ever disrespect your mother.

But your mother says and does things all the time to you as a young adolescent male tthat you don't agree with. But you don't say that because she's your mother. And you love and respect your mother.

Now I can't speak for every boy and his relationship with his mother, but with mine you kind of didn't tell her the things you didn't want her to know. Because if you did she would give you her opinion. Even when you totally didn't want it and you never even asked for it.

So this is why I think men in general don't talk as much as women do about their feelings. Because women are women and men are men. And we learn that from our mothers just as much as we learned it from our fathers. But in today's world not every boy or young child was raised with the father, because women think they can do everything a man can do. So everything's out of whack.

But for the most part men don't say so many things on purpose to their girlfriends or wives. And they do that out of respect for the woman. Because we know just like we never had to agree with our mother, we don't have to agree with our girlfriend or wife in order to deeply care and love for her. I really don't know how women feel about this but they act like they are completely unaware of the fact, that 90% of the time a man keeping his mouth shut is a man that's showing you respect.

Generally, men don't talk about their feelings, because they don't normally care about them - they stick to facts and data, and they speak directly instead of trying to drop hints and using subtext. We're used to being challenged and being wrong, and we tend to take that as a learning opportunity and move on.

We also tend to stick to the relevant information, and cut out everything else. Again, we get straight to the point.

This is why studies show that the average man uses 7,000 words a day, while the average woman uses 22,000 words a day. Women spend a lot of time talking about how they FEEL, and sometimes they talk just to talk. That goes against men's instincts to be stoic.

I talk my wife's head off and she barely says a word.

If I'm lucky, I'll get a yes or no out of her.

I usually get silence or grunts in response to my vocalizations.

She very rarely initiates any conversation.

I can laugh about it, to a degree. It's sad in other ways.

We seem to be backwards from most folks, I guess.

Because we get to the point faster and have generally more purpose to talking. Besides I know women who talk enough for three people... 🙄

In a lot of cases it's how boys/men are raised. In a lot of others, it's how their brains develop and work.
