What is the root cause of possessiveness in men?

We aren't dating but he is possessive of my body. So much that he hates anyone touching my hand or going out with me on a date.

As someone mentioned before, it’s likely instinctual.


The same way make animals fight each other for a female mate.


That competitive nature and desire to have the mate for themselves.


We as civilized humans should have a better reign than animals over our base instincts though.


If his possessiveness is getting out of hand, it could be a lack of control over his own emotions.
