What does my ex-boyfriend really wants from me?

me and my ex we broke up like 2 years ago and since that time he told me to stay friends because he doesn't wanna lose me and we kept talking since that time, and sometimes I feel like he still has feelings for me more than friends and sometimes he says " you will end up marrying me" and sometimes he acts so cool and casual, I feel like I'm losing interest in talking to him and when I opened up to him about this he had a breakdown and begged me to stay with him. I don't really understand his intentions with me anymore because if he really have feelings for me he would've said something or acted upon it. so why is he acting up like this? Can someone please explain it to me because I'm so confused?

He's still interested in you on some level, could be legit or it could be more of a "doesn't know how to move on and find new sources of emotional support" thing. If you're not into him and he's been acting this way for 2 years, it might be time for a clean break. He might just not know how to emotionally detach and is clinging to the idea that you might get back together. If you do have feelings, you might consider telling him. If nothing else, if might jumpstart him emotionally and force him to confront his true feelings. (However, I'm not going to recommend you actually do that because I don't know how you feel about him, how your relationship ended, how he's actually been acting, or how the outcome might affect you.) 2 years is a long time to let a crush drag on if he does have feelings for you and it might not be entirely healthy. Basically, don't be afraid to make a clean cut if you feel uncomfortable and don't think he'll change his behavior. You could also try going through a mutual friend to figure out what's going on or confront him directly.
