I think I'm just trying to get this off my chest, but already know the answer. The guy I like (we've known each other for a while and were close) had to move back home. We never made anything official because we realized the situation we were in. Throughout the year we have been very flirty with each other and all of a sudden we stopped chatting. I know that we are both going through a challenging times right now but I don't want to use this as an excuse. We haven't reached out to each other in a little over a month. If I reach out, I know that I will get a response and things will probably resume, but at this point I'm too proud to do it. And honestly want to see if he's interested. Would you consider this as ghosting?

That’s not ghosting if it’s mutual and that you still have the opportunity to reach out to him. That’s just falling out of contact and it happens a lot in life. Ghosting is a one sided, no contact and no way to contact. Now should you assume he’s not interested if he lets enough time lapse between contacting you? Yes.

Sounds more like distancing yourself from one another due to the circumstances. Ghosting is when you text someone and they leave you on read or block you with no apparent reason. I'm pretty sure you guys will get in touch with each other sooner or later.
