Why do have notion of “all men are the same”?

You might as well say that about women but please I don’t mean any offense. Not all men are the same when we say “men” we are grouping all men you might as well say man because not all men are the same and it’s not fair to say that

I get your point, and so do most people here, but usually it's done as shorthand. The nature of a discussion forum like this is that you have to make lots of generalizations, because you can't survey everyone about everything, and we should all understand that we usually are talking about the majority or the mainstream opinion or behavior. There will always be exceptions to any rule, and there will always be minority opinions, but for most people in most situations, the majority or mainstream is what will apply.

Are there people who post here who literally believe that ALL men or ALL women think or do something? Yes, a few. Are they correct? No, not even if something is true for most of that group. But often they won't be far off from the truth either. Other times they may be VERY far from the truth.

But generalizations are a necessity in order to have discussions about the general population.

I understand it’s a necessity I do and thank you for you’re response. I just don’t like that word “generalization”

I get it, but it can't really be avoided here. The best you can hope for is an acknowledgement that it doesn't apply to everyone, just most.
