It really depends on the type of relationship you have with him. Have you had serious conversations about stuff bothering either of you before? If the situation was reversed and you were the one acting distant would you feel comfortable enough to discuss it with him? Those are the questions I would ask myself if any of my friends male or female were acting distant.

You could ask him if he’s ok, but if he just say yes I’m fine, just let him know you’re here if he needs to talk. Most men aren’t going to talk though, especially to women.
