I told him that I'd been worried about him, and he told me some family problems, that he'd been having "personal problems" and also that he's been drinking less.

1. Is it meaningful that he confided in me? I felt very close to him when he did.

2. Do you think he likes me? Why would he share so much with me?

3. How do you think it would feel for him to confide so much in another woman? Would it make him feel close to me?

I think you're maybe overthinking this. It could be meaningful, but some people don't have a problem opening up at least to some extent. Did it seem like he felt vulnerable? If not, then maybe he's one of those people.

I'm sure he likes you as a friend, but my guess is it's probably a bit much to assume that he's into just because he told you about some of his problems. Especially if he didn't seem vulnerable when he did it.

I did think he sounded vulnerable. Literally, I have never really had a man I didn't know really well (and this even includes the ones I HAVE known really well) open up to me like that. Literally never. He has also been flirty with me at times, touched me a lot, given me compliments and hugs, etc. So I *think* he likes me but it's hard to know for sure because it hasn't gone past this sort of thing.

Hi is someone I know from work but I only see him every several months during conferences. Sometimes we can go a long time without crossing paths.

Really? In that case I could see how he might like you that way *maybe*, but if you only talk once every several months or longer, then I wouldn't put any weight on the fact that he confided in you. I don't think it's meaningful. I'm not even sure I'd think much of the flirting and touching. I'm guessing he's really attractive and/or outgoing? Charismatic?
