He calls me a friend?

So he flirts with me (even sexually or romantic), talks to me almost everyday, normally the he is first to text. Speaks on call for long hours and goes in to deep conversations. Wants to meet up in real life, hugs me. He talks about how he cherishes my time or me. But if I flirt with him he says I like how open you are and that we are comfortable as friends.

He has ADHD and he has never dated, I have autism.

I feel like I need to back up but then he hints that maybe he likes me back but then says "friend" .

We are at uni and started out as friends. It's been 10 months, currently it's the summer vacation.

Maybe bring it up in a serious conversation with him, but you obviously risk the friendship if that conversation goes wrong.
I think he likes having you around and the attention and the knowledge he's talking to a girl, but it seems like that's all it is unfortunately
