Why a guy refuses to open up after rejection?

I like a guy and he refuses to break the walls around his heart after a girl rejected him like a year ago. I know they were close, they were going out and kissed few times but then she rejected him. He didn't date since. My friends told him i like him but he said yeah sure. I get it that he got hurt and is scared now. My friends also told me that he is negative towards dating now.

Because he got burned and now has walls up. I know you said he knows you like him but he may just not be ready yet. Sometimes people take a long time to get over rejection. It can really do a number on certain people. They don't want to open up to anyone because the fear is there. Even if you scream in their face you like them they still won't believe you because they don't want to.

He needs to be in therapy, and you would be wasting your time on him.
