Most of the time a guy can tell she is a virgin even before he has sex with her if he spends enough time with her. There are little clues you can pick up that are subtle, but pretty solid. But of course you can't pick it up instantly. For a girl, losing her virginity changes her forever. The difference isn't easy to detect or even explain. It is a certain kind of innocence that you can detect if you are experienced enough and spend enough time around her.

Don't know about telling if she is a virgin, but I think it's far easier for a man to tell if she's not. At least it always has been for me anyway. One big give away is how some women try to act super pure and innocent with you if she thinks you're a good or innocent type guy. Because she thinks you're relationship material even though she's having casual sex with guy after guy, so she'll pretend to be innocent if it can make you like her for a relationship. That's always a dead give away for knowing a woman isn't a virgin.

@berethorThat's not true. The hymen usually wears away just by movement over a period of time. Usually before puberty. If it was totally intact a girl could not menstruate. In fact, some girls break it themselves to facilitate this if their hymen was somehow intact. But some hymens do not totally cover the vaginal opening. So all hymens are like a tight drum skin like men imagine.
