Guys, guy stopped messaging me after I refused to sleep with him but came to my job and bought me flowers 3 days after no contact. why?

There was a customer I had a crush on (I work in a store). Long story short when he finally wanted to hang out (after 2 weeks of talking) he gave me a “heads up” that if we hung out he wouldn’t be able to control himself “intimately” so I told him politely that if he couldn’t control himself then we didn’t need to hang out. He stopped messaging me after that (I expected that) but 3 days later (yesterday) he came to my job and bought me roses and he still hasn’t messaged me since. I don’t mean to over analyze. I fully expected him to bail but don’t understand why he bought me flowers if he had no further tricks up his sleeve. He still hasn’t contacted me even after buying me the flowers. (Don’t know if this matters but he’s an older guy. 60 to be exact. I’m 30)
