I feel like my shy coworker has a crush on me…it’s a gut feeling but also he stares a lot & goes out of his way to pop into my work area. But he has not talked to me once in 3 months. I keep thinking “if he wanted to make a move, he would” but also I can’t tell if he’s just shy and I have to make a move or he’s really just not interested.
I am not a shy guy in the lease... but I would not approach a co-worker in any way. I have in past, and it never turns out good. No for me anyway. They either become very uncomfortable, or over time it creates an awkward work situation.
I never had a woman co-worker approach me, but if they did, I might go along with it, but as guy in today's climate of sex harassment... it's too risky to chance.
Now for shy guys, it does not matter if its work or not, shy guys struggle period when it comes to women.
As a shy guy, I have crushed on people for up to a year without speaking to them. Eventually they just move on or get a partner and then I'm able to forget about it.
Genuinely shy guys will do anything except make a move. I spend a lot of time single because of this.
Yes I'll glance at my crushes or be in their area a bit before screwing off. It makes me happy just being within 50 feet of them, seeing them alive and well, enjoying their time and smiling. The second I approach is likely when that smile will fade. I don't want to run the risk of making anyone uncomfortable or getting rejected.
I'm quite happy to be just friends as well, but even then I've got some mental crap going on that tells me I don't deserve to be near pretty people, so the cycle continues.
If you're interested and it's been three months, you should at least say Hi, or give a small wave. Nothing may happen but at least things will be less awkward if he reciprocates.

Ok I'm not particularly a shy guy. I'm not super comfortable approaching girls but I'm confident enough to strike up a conversation with a girl I find attractive. The workplace is different tho... that's a massive no go for me!
Making a move on a co-worker is so much more difficult regardless of how much you have a crush on them. Even if they made a move on me, I'd never go through with it.
Bringing private life into work is always messy and complicated and it can often put your career at risk.
He did like you, but you did nothing and he lost interest. Happens all the time.
