Let me start by saying I’m not in favour of workplace relationships other than just being friends/friendly with coworkers. There is a good reason for it. It is the same reason many companies don’t allow workplace romances.

The issue is they can be disruptive to productivity or even worse depending on if it is a good relationship or one that has got rocky. The issue is that the two involved tend to bring their relationship into work, good or bad.

If things are not going well, it only gets worse. What happens if it is a really bad relationship and then a terrible breakup happens? What then? Are you going to be able to keep things professional? Will you be able to get along with her? If not, what are you going to do? Quit?

Those are all very real questions you need to ask yourself. You assume things will just go well but you know as well as I do that we don’t live in a perfect world. This is why I say don’t do it. Just not worth it In my opinion.

Sometimes nothing in particular. If you are friendly and obviously happy to see someone, they should relax eventually. Being complimentary helps as well.
