Boyfriend deleted texts with another girl?

My boyfriend deleted texts with another girl but this just isn't just any random girl. They had a past relationship together and I found out through the messages the ring he was wearing wasn't from his grandpa like he told me, it's actually given to him from her. He's been wearing it all throughout our relationship which disgust me. He took it off but what hurts is he wouldn't have taken it off if he wasn't caught out. He even told me he said to her "I have a girlfriend and she goes through my phone" why would you say something like that. He goes through my phone as well. Equally fair but I just don't know why he'd say something like that. I don't know the full conversation because the texts have been erased. What do y'all think?

Yeah so that is shady af. I'm not one to snoop through other people's phones but if he is doing it to you. Sounds like there are some trust problems going on which is never a good sign. Also the fact that he lied about the ring and where it came from is a big red flag. He wasn't just hiding it he lied about it coming from his grandpa. This all sounds like the basis for a failed relationship. I'd move on if it were me but easier said than done not knowing your entire situation.

He's never let go of that relationship or he wouldn't deleting messages, or be wearing that ring she gave him. And lying about is a red flag.
