Sorry and maybe it is the way the question is worded but I am not getting what you are asking. Are you saying you were in the middle of an argument and he said "I'll hit you up later"? Maybe that is his way of saying nothing is going to be resolved right now and we may as well talk about it later. Sometimes just cooling off from an argument can help diffuse a situation. If you were just arguing nonstop that is one way to just take some time apart and let calmer heads prevail. Now if that is not what you are asking you can clarify and I will change my opinion.

Honestly, this guy was just making the smart move for both of you.

Conversations over text are difficult at the best of times and arguments are almost never going to end well. It's so hard to interpret someone's thoughts over text and when emotions get involved it always gets messy.

It's very smart to walk away from the situation, have a think about it, and come back when you're in a good headspace so you can communicate clearly with each other rather than arguing over each other.

When he does this he's making a mature decision for the better of both of you. Respect it and give him space. He'll come back to you when he's ready to have a civilized discussion about the matter and work things out with you.
