Why as an autistic guy do I get treated so differently?

It’s like when I try to engage in conversation I’m brushed off or even possibly ignored. For example I took my dog to a dog park and there was a girl who brought hers in and I was greeting her and got nothing in return. Do I just naturally make people uncomfortable

Well she may have ignored you if you weren't autistic too. A lot of people now a days just don't want to have any conversation with a stranger, which is ironic since they spend so much time on their phone using aps to... talk to strangers... But yeah, not prepared to chalk that up to your autism.

You are different so accept that. Also no one owes you anything. Don't expect pleasantries from strangers. You can't just view the world from your own perspective and expect to have an accurate depiction of the world.

Well, yeah, you are neurodivergent. You literally view the world differently. People on the spectrum have issues relating and socializing with neurotypical people. You basically have to find people who don't care if you are different or learn to mimic or at least understand neurotypical people.

People generally dont notice i am, it's probably just cos she was rude, busy or just not in the mood? There's plenty of friendly people around. Unless you make it so obvious you have it, i try to act fairly normal

I don’t but I can’t think of another reason why she would look at me as I’m greeting her when she’s bringing her dog in not to say anything back
