Why do people think this of autistic people?

If they were to date someone they think they will get taken advantage of when they are not because it’s constentual and they are mentally capable of understanding what is going on. Why do they think of this? They just want to find love like everyone else and they need to be treated normally. What do you think of this?

Because the idiotic decision was made to stick everyone on the spectrum into a single category, from the "a bit odd, but entirely capable of living a full, independent life" to "borderline comatose". Then this was introduced to the general public, who have no level of medical or psychiatric training.

They're naturally going to assume everyone's at the level of the most disabled person they know about. It's stupid, but understandable if you see it from their viewpoint. It's ignorance, not malice.

There's different levels of autism and different strains , but severe autistic can be taken advantage off I'm autistic myself mines mild I'm aware and wouldn't be taken advantage off :) but your right we should and can still find love

Yes I am mildly autistic. So if it’s mild it means they won’t be taken advantage of. Why do they think that?
